The most important points regarding learner drives at a glance

Learner drives are only permitted in the company of a person who is at least 23 years old and has held a valid, unlimited driving license for at least three years.

The accompanying person must always sit in the passenger seat during the learner drive – exceptions apply only in practice areas and during reversing or parking.

The blue learner's plate with a white 'L' is mandatory on the rear of the vehicle.

The accompanying person must be able to reach the handbrake easily (manual or electronic).

Learner drivers do not require a special additional insurance. Any potential damages are covered by the vehicle owner's motor insurance – according to the agreed deductible.
